| Text | Oliver V. Manley of Cassville committed suicide in a rooming house at No. 320 ½ Virginia Avenue at 6:30 last night. He left no note or letter telling why he took his life.
Manley was discovered by persons residing in the rooming house and a physician and the police were summoned. He was taken to St. John's hospital in an ambulance of the Hurlbut Undertaking Company in charge of Patrolman Fred Crandall, but died immediately. According to persons who found Manley he appeared at the rooming house Wednesday night, but left yesterday morning. He returned in the afternoon and was heard groaning shortly before 6:30 o'clock. Manley was employed as an insurance salesman in an insurance office maintained by his father C.D. Manley of Cassville. He recently was discharged from the army. He is survived by his parents and a sister Elaine Manley, who is at Exeter, Mo., and a brother, L. A. Manley of Monett. They body will be sent to Cassville for burial. Funeral services probably will be held at his home Sunday. - Joplin Globe. |
