Obit For Johnnie Madewell

Text Johnnie Madewell was born in Taney County, Missouri, September 12, 1868, died at the Oswego hospital in Oswego, June 22, 1920, aged 52 years, 9 months and 10 days. 

June 21, 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Frances A. Wasson at Cassville, Mo., to this union seven children were born, four sons, one who died at the age of nine months and three daughters. Those who survive are Melvin, Jacob, John, and the daughters are Mrs. Ella Wagner, Edith and Ollie, who with the mother are left to mourn his lose. 

When a young lad he was converted and joined the Missionary Baptist church, in which faith he lived a consisted Christian life, living to see his entire family baptized in the same faith. 

For the past three years, Mr. Madewell had been suffering from trouble with his right leg and was compelled to give up the work as a farmer in November of last year. While walking on the street at Vienna, Okla., he fell breaking the limb above the knee. This break failed to heal and he was brought o Oswego, but with no better results gained. Monday an operation was performed with the hope of saving his life, but the disease which was tuberculosis of the bone had made such progress that he never rallied from the operation. 

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday, June 23, at 2:00 o'clock, by Rev. Way, pastor of the M. E. Church and burial made in the Oswego cemetery. 

The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.
