Obit For Sarah Jane (Babb) Lowder
Headline AUNT SARAH LOWDER DIES LAST SATURDAY WAS VICTIM OF PARALYSIS AT AGE OF 80; LIVED IN CASSVILLE MANY YEARS
Text Mrs. Sarah Lowder, 80 years old, died Saturday morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mattie Baker, of Paralysis, in Monett.

Mrs. Lowder was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Babb and was born in Tennessee. The family came to Barry county in an early day and she spent the most of her life in Cassville and vicinity.

Mrs. Baker is her only surviving child.

She leaves one brother, Bascom Babb of Cassville, three sisters, Mrs. Dock Hefley of Cassville, Mrs. Tiny Bradley and Mrs. Witt Eassary of Miami, Okla. A brother, J.W. Babb of Grant, Okla., died Nov. 6 and a sister Mrs. Shadd Wallen, Sr., of Fairland, Okla., died last July at the depot in Monett, after a stoke of paralysis.

Mrs. Lowder was a Christian woman and member of the Methodist church at Cassville.

Aunt Sarah, as she was familiarly known had been in failing health for several months. Her condition became more serious a few weeks ago, at which time she was taken to the home of her daughter in Monett, where the end came peacefully last Saturday.

Funeral services were conducted at the Horine Funeral Home in this city, Sunday afternoon, by Rev. J. S. McQueen of Wheaton, after which the remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. Many beautiful floral emblems were received by the bereaved family from friends near and afar, as evidence of the high esteem in which this excellent character was held.

Aunt Sarah resided many years in Cassville and was loved by everyone.

Pallbearers were Harry Windes, Cleo Hawk, Evan Shore, Elias Horine, Raymond Williams and John Ray. Flower girls were: Mrs. C. H. Hadley, Mrs. Charles Ray, Mrs. Dora Talbert, Mrs. Bon Manley, Mrs. Henry Platenbury, Mrs. W.T. Ward. A quartette composed of Mrs. Glen Pearl, Mrs. John Ray, Clint Blythe and Chas Willis rendered music at the service.
