Text | Mrs. Long, mother of Hiram Long, died last week, age 76 years. Research Note: Lavina (Bellah) Long, died May 30, 1906, she was the wife of John Dake Long and was buried at Maddy Cemetery. Her stone reads that she was born in August 29, 1827, which would have made her 79 years old and not 76 as the newspaper read. Her husband and his father, Hiram, were killed during the Civil War by bushwhackers. His estate reads: Page 145, Letters of Administration, Barry Co., MO. George Long, Lenard Long, John D. Long, Siman H. Long, Kizah Long and Samantha Long, minor heirs of J. D. Long, deceased. Bond: $ 200., 30 March 1867, William Cannon, Administrator, William W. Lee and Thomas Smith, bondsmen. It is not known where Hiram and John Dake Long are buried but presumed at Corsicana, because Maddy may not have been a cemetery that early. If it was then they are probably at Maddy. |
