Text | Rachel Greer, daughter of Andrew and Kaythern Greer, was born in east Tennessee, July 30, 1851, and passed away Friday, September 10, 1943, at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 11 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Ridenour, south of Wheaton. She was married to Christian Long Feb. 3, 1876. To this union eight children were born. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death. She united with the Big Springs Baptist Church and later moved her membership to the Rocky Comfort Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and those who knew her honored her as a true friend. She is survived by seven children, Ollie Miller of Chandler, Okla., Fronia Hall of Red Oak, Okla., Andy Long of Afton, Okla., Jimmie Long of Exeter, Henry Long of Stark City, Willie Long of Laramie, Wyo., and Maymie Ridenour of Exeter, forty-two grandchildren; seventy-six great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Rocky Comfort Baptist Church by the Rev. C.F. Siler of Cassville. |
