| Text | Lucy, daughter of Elisha and Sarah Williams Metcalf, was born in Kentucky on December 25, 1887. She passed away at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri on August 23, 1972 at the age of 84 years, seven months and 28 days. She came to Missouri when she was about four years old and has spent her life time in this area. She was united in marriage to James E. Long on December 7, 1904 and to this union five children were born. Her husband preceded her in death on January 10, 1970. She was saved and baptized and at the time of her passing she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville. Left to mourn her passing are two sons, Rev. A. Long of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Cecil Long of Neosho, Missouri; three daughters, Mrs. Loraine Erwin of Washburn, Missouri; Mrs. Grace Harris of Joplin, Missouri and Mrs. Effie Kelly of Lincoln, Illinois. Also one brother, Elisha Metcalf of Neosho, Mo.; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends all of whom will sadly miss her. Note: Lucy, was my grandmother; this is the obit that was read at her funeral--have been unable to find a newspaper obit. |
