Text John Grant Long, son of Robert & Celia Long, was born, Sept. 15, 1868, and departed this life Sept. 12, 1946, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 27 days.

He was united in marriage to Lina Baker, June 1, 1897. To this union eight children were born. An infant daughter preceeded him in death.

He is survived by his widow and seven children, Arvel Long, Pineville; Virgil Long and Jess Long of Exeter; Eliza Long, Nampa, Idaho; Gladys Long, Kansas City; and Lavone Long, Stella. Also one brother, Ike Long, Rocky Comfort; thirteen grand-children, two great grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Long was converted at an early age and united with the Baptist church at Elm Spring. He was a kind and devoted husband and father, made many friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He passed away at his home in Exeter, where he and his wife has resided for four or five years, coming here from Rocky Comfort.

Funeral services were held at the Rocky Comfort Baptist church on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, by Rev. C.F. Siler, assisted by Rev. Chas. VanZandt. Burial in the church cemetery under direction of the Koon Funeral Service.
