Text | James C. "J.C." "Jake" "Jim" Long, 72, Neosho, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at his home, following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Longview, McDonald County, to Joe and Nellie (Jones) Long.
He was a lifelong area resident. He worked for MoDOT for 37 years, until his retirement. He and the former Peggy Farley were married April 13, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives. Additional survivors include: two daughters, Terry and Mike Osborne and Carrol and Todd Markovich, all of Neosho; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Opal Santee, of Cassville, Alice Senters, of Exeter, and of Esther Santee, Stella. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Long, of Cassville, and a great granddaughter. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at Clark Chapel of Memories with Mark Landreth officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or Compassus Hospice, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
