Text | Henry Harlond Long, 74, died at his home on Granby, Route 2 at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, June 29. Mr. Long was born March 9, 1889 in Newton County and spent his entire life in this area. He was a farmer and a member of the Wanda Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ella Long of the home; three sons, Ocie, Granby Route 2, Roy, Yakima, Wash., and Bobby Atchson, Kans.; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Marion, Stark City, Mrs. Rachel Babb, Granby Route 2, Mrs. Rhoda Chapman, Concord, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Howes, Mount Morris, Mich.; two brothers, James, Cassville, and Willie, Laramie, Wyo.; two sisters, Mrs. Fronia Hall, Banta, Calif., and Mrs. Mamie Ridenour, Rocky Comfort 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and seven step children. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wanda Methodist Church. The Rev. Don Shepherd officiated and burial was in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery under direction of the Thompson Funeral Home. Research Note: There is some disagreement on the spelling of Henry's middle name but the tombstone looks like it is and "N". The obit and family records report his middle name is Harlan/Harland/Harlond, so I'm not sure of the spelling. He was my Grandfather's brother. |
