Text | Philip Synder Loewen, 78, Purdy route 1, was pronounced dead on arrival at 8 a.m. Thursday at Missouri State Chest Hospital, Mt. Vernon, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 14, 1898, at Kansas City. He was a member of Church of Christ, Monett. He was a veteran of World War I and II, serving as a second quartermaster in the Navy. He farmed for 19 years in the Washburn Prairie area before retiring in 1964. He was a member of World War I Barracks No. 1072, Monett.. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Talburt Loewen, whom he married Feb. 14, 1920, near Seligman, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Nofftz, Joplin route 2. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Culver Funeral Service, Cassville. Clark Carlo, minister, officiated. Burial was in Washburn Prairie Cemetery.
