Text | Mrs. Martha Catherene (Long) Lewis, daughter of William and Mary Long, was born in Tenn. Oct.8,1879. She passed away at her home in Exeter, Feb. 25, 1945. She came to Missouri in 1882. Was united in marriage to A. T. (Archie) Lewis, March 14, 1900, and has lived here 45 years. To their marriage, seven children were born, two having preceded her in death. Oran, a small son dying in 1902, and Max, in 1940. Her husband and the following children survive. Willie Lewis of Evansville, Ind., Fred of Kansas City, Mrs. Kate Richardson of Monett, Mrs. May Vawter of the home address, Jay Lewis, who is with the armed forces overseas. Also six grandchildren, four brothers, John, Joe, Lewis, and Kinzer Long and three sisters, Mrs. J. T. Linebarger, Mrs. W. B. Linebarger and Mrs. O.F. Graves. She was converted when young and lived a true, devoted Christian life. She united with the Exeter Baptist Church, Dec. 10, 1932. She was a kind and helpful neighbor, always ready and willing to help in sickness and need. She was a very devoted wife and mother, always sacrificing to make conveniences for her children. She had been in failing health for a number of years. Funeral services were held at the Exeter Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. Chas. VanZandt. Burial in the Exeter Cemetery, with the Koon Funeral Home in charge. Research Note: Missouri Death Certificate #8910 List Name as Martha K.
