Text - Outline | J. M. Lawrence was born near Greenfield, Ind., April 28, 1868 and departed this life May 22, 1934, at the age of 66 years and 24 days. He had lived in the Washburn community for 55 years. In 1894 he was married to Miss Ollie Neill and to them 12 children were born five of whom preceded him in death. He was converted in 1896 in a meeting held at by the Late Rev. E. W. McCracken, at Truelove. Mr. Lawrence was one of the leading growers of small fruits in his community. For the past six years he had driven a bus, taking the school children to and from the Washburn school. He was a good citizen and held in high esteem by the people of the entire community. His body was laid to rest, following funeral services in the Truelove cemetery north of Washburn. Surviving him are his widow and seven children. The children are: Mrs. Nora Snook, Mrs. Elise Nodine, and Loren Lawrence of Washburn, and Ethel, Winnie and Ester, at home. He is also survived by four grandchildren, two brothers: Sam and Willis Lawrence of Washburn; and five sisters, Mrs. J. B. Everett of Fairview, Mrs. J. E. Lamb of Washburn, Mrs. B. F.
