Text | Soloman L. Lady was born in Estel County, Kentucky, Sept. 6, 1865. He departed this life at the Wheaton Hospital, December 15, 1949, at the age of 84 years, three months and nine days. He was united in marriage to Paulina Metcalf, in 1889. He came with his wife to Missouri, when 24 years of age, and has been a resident of Missouri for the past sixty years, the greater part of the time being spent in Barry County. He was known by every one as Uncle Sol. His wife preceded him in death in 1925. Six years later, he was married to Betty Rowley, who passed away in 1940. Later he was united in marriage to Mamie Browning. He was converted in Estel County, Ky., and united with the Baptist church. He had no children of blood relation. In 1912, Alfred Land went to his home to share crop with Uncle Sol. They became such intimate friends, that he loved and looked to Alfred for counsel as he would he own son. Surviving are his wife of Rocky Comfort, and Alfred Land and family of Yakima, Wash. Funeral services were held at the Wheaton Baptist church Sunday afternoon, Dec. 18, 1949, by Rev. Chas. VanZandt. Burial in the Clark Cemetery, with the McQueen Funeral Service in charge. -- Contributed Solomon L.
