Text | Funeral services for John W. Long, 48, 78 North Main Street, Massena were held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena.
Mr. Long died at 2:33 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 1983 in the Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since January 4. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane; four daughters; a sister, Mrs. Roland (Betty) Bartel, Eugene, OR; six brothers, James, Hutchinson, KS, Lloyd, Norwalk, CA, Harold, Oklahoma, Gary, Monett, MO, David, Washburn, MO, and Errol, Cassville, MO; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister and two brothers. Mr. Long was born February 18, 1934 in Hutchinson, Kansas, son of Charles and Katherine Weatherly Long. He was graduated from Cassville, MO High School in 1953 and entered the US Army in 1955. He was discharged from the army in 1958, when he moved to Massena. He was employed by Carbino's A-1 TV for five years and then worked as a saw operator at Reynold's Metals until his retirement due to disability in 1977. He married Mary Jane Manning on January 31, 1959 in the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Mr. Long was a member of the Massena Moose Lodge. |
