Headline | Pioneer Citizen Passes Away Had Lived On Farm Near Cassville For Forty-Five Years |
Text | George Washington Kring, a pioneer citizen of this community, died at his home north of Cassville Friday night, Nov. 22 Mr. Kring had been in falling health for a long while but was seriously ill only a short time. He was 79 years old and a native of the State of Kentucky. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 24th, at the Horine-Culver Funeral Home in Cassville. The services were conducted by Rev. Ralph Underwood, pastor of the Christian Church in Cassville. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of W.C. Blythe, John Baker, Arlie Inman, and Chester Sands, with Mrs. W. T. Baker at the Piano. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. Kring was born Oct. 4, 1861. When a young man he came from his native State of Kentucky to Barry county and located first in what is know the Jenkins community. Later he came to Cassville where he united in marriage with Miss Molly Woody, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Newton Woody. To them six children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. Mrs. Kring died about 11 years ago. The living children are Elmer A. Kring, Raymond Kring. Mrs. Collie Keeling who lives in Houston, Tex., and Miss Mabel Kring. Mr. Kring was a man of the rugged type of character of the pioneer. He was a man of strict integrity and firm convictions, industrious and frugal in his habits. He stood honestly and courageously for what he thought to be right.
