One of the sadest accidents that has happened in this neighborhood
occurred Friday, George Parish's little stepson was plowing a single
horse which became frightened at something and jerked the little fellow
off the ground and the second jump the boy's head struck a stump,
killing him instantly. The lines were around his waist which caused
the horse to drag the helpless boy about one hundred yards. Burial
took place Saturday at the Munsey Cemetery. Freeman Knee, 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs George Parish residing near Eagle Rock was killed last Friday. The boy was plowing ground for a turnip patch and had the lines around his waist. Some one drove past the field and the horses became frightened. The boy was thrown to the ground and the lines were made fast under his arms. His body was badly mutilated when picked up and he had fled before reached by members of the family. Research Note: William was born May 1888, according to the 1900 census, and was a son of George and Mary (Scroggins) Knee. |
