Text | Hazel Mae Bacon Kerr, 72, of Exeter, died May 21 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Mrs. Kerr was born December 6, 1926, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, the daughter of Harvey L. and Annie M. Laster Boggess. She was a farmer, raised livestock, and raised grapes in Exeter for about 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Exeter and a Sunday school teacher. She married Oscar Bacon on June 6, 1942, and he preceded her in death October 18, 1991. She married Charlie Kerr in September of 1993, and he survives. Additional survivors include three sons, Dennis Bacon, Darrell Bacon, and Freddie Bacon, all of Exeter; two daughters, Louise Coons of Springfield and Linda Callison of Joplin; three step-sons, Charles Kerr Jr. and Wayne Kerr, both of Phoenix, Arizona, and Dennis Kerr of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; one brother, Bill Boggess of Seligman; six sisters, Pearlene Hilburn of Cassville, Geneva Schweizer of Walsh, Colorado, Betty Hilburn of Cassville, Maxine Reeves of Seligman, Helen Turpin of Nixa, and Charlotte O'Neal of Springdale, Arkansas; five grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, one great grandchild, and 11 step-great grandchildren. Services were 2:30 p.m. yesterday, May 23, at the First Baptist Church in Exeter with Rev. Jerry Yarnall and Rev. John Callison officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
