Text | Died, Monday, Feb. 17, 1896, at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. B. T. Eagle, on Kings Prairie, Mrs. Lucinda Kennedy, age 103 years, 2 months and 1 day. Mrs. Kennedy was the oldest resident in Barry County and her 103rd anniversary was celebrated by a dinner, Dec. 16th, last. A full sketch of her life was published in the Republican of Dec. 19th. Mrs. Kennedy's maiden name was Harris and she was born in Oldham County, KY, Dec. 16, 1792, where she lived until 12 years of age, when, with her parents, she removed to Shelby County and later to Tennessee, near Memphis. At the age of 16, she was married to John Eagle by whom she had twelve children, the only surviving one being Mrs. Fredonia Mattingly, age 68. Mr. Eagle died in 1839, and after her moving to Arkansas, she married James Kennedy with whom she came to Barry County in 1858. Mr. Kennedy was a veteran of the War of 1812, and was in the Battle of New Orleans. He died in 1875. The remains were buried at Bethel, Tuesday.
