Text | Cassville, Mo., July 14 - Dr. B. B. Kelly of Purdy, pioneer physician and widely known leader of Barry County more than 50 years, died at 5:30 o'clock Thursday morning at the Barry County hospital. Born in Wallonia, Ky., in 1869, he came to Missouri in 1891 as a practicing physician. He had been active many years in church, civic and political affairs in addition to his medical career. He was a life-long member of the Christian church, and was affiliated with the Odd Fellow and Masonic lodges. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dora Kelly of Purdy; three daughters, Mrs. V. B. Hall of Monett, Mrs. Gene Williams of Joplin and Mrs. Hal Harwood of the home address; a sister, Mrs. Lelah Boyd of Wallonia; five grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Purdy Christian Church. The Rev. Martin T. Pope, long-time friend of Dr. Kelly, will officiate. Burial will be in Purdy Cemetery under the direction of the Koon funeral home of Cassville. |
