Text | A good life has ended with the assurance of a happy future, where she will be free from sickness, death and sorrows, in that never ending happy land "over there". Mrs. James Keeling died at the Keeling home west of Butterfield, Monday, April 2, from a stroke of paralysis aged 52 years, 8 months and 4 days. She was a daughter of John and Mrs. Sarah Edens and was born August 28, 1864. On November 1, 1885 she and James M. Keeling were united in marriage and to this union were born ten children, three having died in infancy. Those surviving the mother are: Charlie, Jesse, William, Walter, Ross, Ocie and Burl Keeling, together with their father to mourn for the passing of their mother. She also has five brothers, three sisters and a host of friends and relatives who are made sad by her departure. She was a woman of a sweet and kindly disposition, a loving wife and affectionate mother and a generous neighbor. In early life she united with the Baptist Church and fulfilled all her Christian obligations by her daily works in life. She will be sadly missed by her family and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday evening at New Church by Rev. Francis Goodnight after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. A large crowd of relatives and friends were at the funeral to pay the last tribute of love and respect to the departed. |
