Jasper Oliver Jones was born November 5, 1843 and died May ?? at the age of 85 years, 6 months and ?? days. Practically all his life was spent in the Oshkosh community near Stella, Mo. He served his country as a ??? ???? during the Civil War. He united with the Church of Christ some 50 years ago and remained a true Christian until death. January 15, 1871 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Boswell. To this union were born seven children. His wife preceded him in death about 39 years ago. One child died in infancy. The other children were with him during his sickness and death. They are: Jim and Noah Jones of Rocky Comfort, Belle Sanders of Granby, Jeanie ???? of Seminole Okla., Allie Taylor of Fairview and Mal? Jones at home. He also leaves one brother, E. J. Jones of Fresno Cal., 26 grandchildren and 3 great grand children, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Uncle Jas., as he was known to all, was a good man of sterling qualities, a good citizen and as a neighbor was unexcelled. Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr. Strickland in Rocky Comfort and interment made in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery under the direction of the Pogue Undertaking Company.
