Headline | Curlee James Dies of Pneumonia Last Friday |
Text | Curlee James, prominent Shell Knob farmer and citizen, died at the West Hospital in Monett last Friday, following an illness with pneumonia. Mr. James was a native of this county, having been born and raised on the farm where he resided previous to his death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frances James, old time and honorable citizens of that section and leaves five children to mourn his departure. The children are: Claud, Troy, Mrs. Maudie Whisman and Mrs. Reena Stever, all of that section of the county. His son Gilbert passed away with pneumonia one week before his death. His wife preceded him in death about two or three years ago. He also leaves one brother, James also of Shell Knob. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church at Shell Knob last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Cottrell after which the remains were laid to rest in the Painter cemetery. It is a severe loss to any community to lose such good citizens as Curlee James. He was a man that was noted for his honest, straight forward dealing and stood high in the estimation of all acquaintances. The Democrat joins the many friends of the family in extending sympathy in their said hour of bereavement.
