Text | Irena Burkhart was born May 17, 1877; was united in marriage to W. E. Jackson at the age of 18 years. She gave her heart to the Savior at the age of 18 years, by a confession of her faith in Jesus and by humbly obeying the commands of her Lord and Master and became a member of the Church of Christ at Sparks School House in which she was a member at the time, of her death, which occurred at her home in McDowell, after an illness of five days. She was laid to rest in the Sparks Cemetery on August 30, amid a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Mrs. M. A. Hutchens. She lived a quiet humble and Christian life, beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and two little children, an aged father and mother and six brothers and four sisters, to mourn her loss but they sorrow not as those who have no hope. Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord, yes henceforth sayeth the Sprit, for they shall rest from their labors and their works do follow them. Z. C. Patton |
