Text | Nellie Jane (Marshall) Inman was born July 12, 1889, and departed this life at her home northeast of Purdy, Mo., January 10, 1936 after a lingering illness. She was at the time of her death 46 years, five months and 28 days old. She was married March 2, 1913 to Floyd M. Inman. To this union were born five children, two boys and three girls, one having preceded her mother in death at the age of five months. Those surviving are as follows: Fantella McClellan of Purdy, Manis Marjorie and Virginia at home. Besides the children she leaves one granddaughter, Willa Dean McClellan, her companion, five sisters and one brother, also a host of close relatives and dear friends. Father and mother preceded her in death by a number of years. The sisters and one brother surviving are: Olive King of Nampa, Idaho, Etta Gipson, also of Nampa, Idaho, Mrs. C. R. Long of Wheaton, Mo., Ara and Walter, both of Springfield, Mo. She was converted at the age of about 29, under the influence of a revival held at the Mountain Grove church by the late Rev. M. J. Combs. Nellie seemed to take after her mother in that she was very conservative. She never seemed to be gifted in taking an active part in public; but was a devoted mother, and was very consecrated to her family. Indeed she was a grand example of motherhood. She filled her place in life with great patience, and was very patient in her illness. She talked much to her Heavenly Father, even while on the bed of affliction. She has contributed much to the great cause by being so willing to stay with the children and care for the home, thereby making it possible for her companion to follow his calling in spreading the great Gospel in song. Such home loving mothers are of untold value in maintaining that great institution we call the "home." She will be sadly missed in the home and community. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel church, by Rev. Winford Davis, assisted by Rev. C. E. Henderson. Interment to the Bethel cemetery. Blankenship Undertakers of Purdy in charge. |
