Text | John T. Hutchens, 81 years old of Cassville, carnival operator for many years, died at 2 o’clock Friday morning, February 2, 1962 in Cassville Osteopathic Hospital where he had been a patient a week. Mr. Hutchens had been in the carnival business 61 years. He spent the winters in Cassville, when not on the road with his shows. He was a member of the Joplin Elks and I.O.O.F. lodges. Surviving area a son, Ralph Hutchens of Long Beach, Calif; three brothers Will and Urt Hutchens of Cassville, and Bob Hutchens of Pawnee, Okla., and five sisters, Mrs. Jeannie Birkes of Cassville, Mrs. Missie Vogler of Moline, Ill., Mrs. Minnie Scott of Kansas City, Mrs. Manie Lovell of Prichard, Ala and Mrs. Lottie Varner of Joplin. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon in Culver Chapel. The Rev. Charles Siler and the Rev. R.L. Conner officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Cassville. |
