Text | Fred Hultgren, 81 years old who died November 19, was ill a long time and knowing that he could not survive, he wrote his own obituary which is as follows: “I was born in the province of Smoland in Sweden on the 19th day of March, 1847 – and married in 1870 – and came over to America in 1872. "The first five years I traveled very extensively, was in twenty-four states and in Canada – British Columbia and Vancouver island, and came to Barry County, MO in 1877 where I have resided since. "I was converted in 1884 and became a member of the M. E. church where I was a very active and one o f the leading members for many years. "My first union was blest with nine children of which only three are living... “I was married the second time to Miss Olga Fyr in 1908 and we lived very, very happy together. She was a very good loving and true companion to me and would do and sacrifice anything for my comfort and happiness – yes, she took care of me as a mother her baby. “In our union eight children were born of which five are living... May God bless them and be a Father for them, and a Comforter for my dear wife till we once more be united in the happy land where I have gone, where we will live with Christ and our loved ones forever. May God bless you all."
