Text | Abstract - Thelma Irene Horner, 75, of Cassville, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Barry County Care Center in Cassville. She was born on Sept. 8, 1933, in Seligman, the daughter of Veril and Mary (Gowen) McGlothlin. She grew up during her school years in Wichita, Kan. She moved to the Cassville area her senior year of high school and graduated from Cassville High School in 1951. After graduating, she attended one year of college at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. On March 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Bob Horner. She has been an active member of the community. She worked as church secretary for the First Baptist Church and as secretary for the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce before becoming the first editor of the Barry County Advertiser in 1966. She was editor of the Barry County Advertiser for over 25 years until her retirement. She also held past positions on the Barry County Extension Council and later on the Cassville R-IV School Board. More recently she worked part-time at the Barry County Library and was a member of the volunteer program at the Barry County Museum. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville. She was preceded in death by her parents. |
