Prominent Washburn Prairie Man Dies At Home Last Saturday
Text Funeral services for John Sterling Hopkins, native resident of the Washburn Prairie community who passed away at his home in the community last Saturday afternoon, were held at the Corinth Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Chas. Vanzandt officiating assisted by the Rev. Ab Edie.

Mr. Hopkins, who had lived his entire life in that community, was 77 years of age. He retired from farming several years ago. His father, the late A. J. Hopkins was one time Sheriff of Barry County many years ago. He had been in ill health for several months.

Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Ida Hopkins of the home: four sons, Ted, Gail, Rolland and W. K., all of that community; and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Catron of Exeter, Mrs. Reva McGruder of Wayne, and Mrs. Hazel Hankins of Pittsburg, Calif.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. K. F. Howell of Tulsa and Mrs. Lula Wertz of Cassville; one brother, A. J. of Parma. Idaho.

Musical selections were furnished at the service by a quartet composed of J. D. Smith, Loyce Hopkins, Ralph Davis and Emory Melton, accompanied by Mrs. Eldon Robb at the piano.

Burial was in the Corinth cemetery under direction of the Koon Funeral home.
