Text | Mrs. Elizabeth (Irwin) Hoog was born September 2, 1854 in Red Oak, Lawrence County, passed away at the home of her step-daughter, Mrs. Roberta Johnson, in Sulphur Springs, Ark., on July 10, 1945. She was united in marriage to John P. Hoog, who preceded her in death several years ago. To this union was born ten children. All but two survive. They are Fred Hoog, Clarence Hoog, Chillicothe Mo., William Hoog, Seattle, Wash.; Riley Hoog and Grant Hoog, Kansas City; Arthur Hoog, Miami, Okla.; Gertie Hoog Montgomery, Joplin and Everett Hoog, Pittsburgh Ka. And Etta Hoog Senter and Orville Hoog, deceased. Beside her own children she leaves to mourn her passing three step-children, Robert Hoog, Kansas City; Nanie E. Norton, Crane and Roberta Johnson, Sulphur Springs Ark., a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two brothers, James Irwin, Kellyville, Okla., and Ben Irwin of Cassville and a sister, Mrs. Etta Wiles, Afton, Okla. Mrs. Hoog was a devoted church woman all her life and reared her family in conscientious Christian atmosphere. Since early childhood she spend her life in Washburn community and will remain in memory of her family and friends as a fine example of American motherhood.
