| Text | Ruth Holmes, 88, of Monett, MO, died Monday, August 20, 2007, at Monett Health Care Center. Mrs. Holmes was born August 27, 1918, in Monett, the daughter of J. D. and Golda (King) Buchanan. She along with her husband owned and operated Buchanan Funeral Home for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Monett, where she was a member of the choir and the Lydia Circle. She worked as a volunteer with Loaves and Fishes. She married Glennon Holmes on September 14, 1941, in Monett, and he preceded her in death August 22, 1981. Survivors include one son, of Monett; one daughter, of Springfield, MO; and two grandchildren, of Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Mae Buchanan. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Monett IOOF Cemetery with Rev. Clif Crockett officiating under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Buchanan Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes. |
