Text | James E. Hockin Sr., 78, of Shell Knob, died at 8:55 p.m. April 24 at Carroll Regional Medical Center in Berryville, Arkansas, following a brief illness. Mr. Hockin was born May 1, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Laura Crowthers Hockin. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II, and moved to Shell Knob in 1975 after retiring as a mechanic shop foreman at Armstrong Container in Plano, Texas. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and SOLO Group, both in Shell Knob. He married Virginia Beery on June 5, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, and she preceded him in death June 5, 1988. Survivors include three sons, Bruce Hockin of Joliet, Illinois, James Hockin Jr. of St. Charles, Illinois, and David Hockin of Oswego, Illinois; one brother, Earle Hockin of Lakeland, Florida; and two grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. tomorrow, April 29, at Williamson Chapel in Shell Knob with Rev. Joseph Orthel officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, April 28, at Williamson Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Memorials may be made to Shell Knob First Responders. |
