Text | W.C. (Winn) Hiles, who lived at Exeter when he was a young man, died Friday at his home at Gordon, Ark. He died suddenly. Winn, as his many friends here about his old home knew him, was here on a visit, nearly every year with his mother, Mrs. Mary Hiles who died a few months ago at Exeter, and his sister, Miss Hattie Hiles, who had lately been at Gordon with her brother. Mr. Hiles had been sick for sometime. His two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Haynes of California, and Miss Hattie Hiles were with him during his illness. They and Mr. Haynes accompanied his body back to Exeter for the funeral and burial. The Funeral services were conducted by Mrs. Claude Miller of Monett, a Christian Scientist. The Hiles family are of the Christian Science faith. Burial was in the Maplewood cemetery at Exeter. The Christian Science service was given. Pall bearers were: John Ellston, Earl Smithson, A.L. Walker, John Hughes, A.D. Taylor, and Jess Walker. Surviving him are his widow, one daughter, and two sisters Mrs. Lottie Haynes and Miss Hattie Hiles. |
