#1. April 26, 1999 - Monett Times John Hile, 78, of Monett, died at 8:05 p.m. April 24, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield following a long illness. Mr. Hile was born March 17, 1921, in Blue Eye, Arkansas, the son of John Henry and Mable Nora (Summers) Hile. He had worked for the Frisco Railroad for 13 years, worked for Friend Tire in Monett for 30 years, and was a school crossing guard and janitor for Monett Middle School for seven years. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Monett, was active in the Methodist Men's Group and Railroad Club, and sang with quartets in the area. He married Pearl May Moody on March 16, 1944, in Monett, and she preceded him in death July 24, 1995. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albin Hile; one sister, Charles Loraine Schlickenmaier; and three grandchildren, Darrel, Vicky, and Regina Hile. Services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow, April 27, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. Lenear Rose officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today, April 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church. #2. Monett Times - April 29, 1999 John Hile Services for John Hile, 78, of Monett, who died April 24, were held at 2 p.m. April 27 at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. Lenear Rose and Rev. Michael Irvine officiating. Music included taped selections of Streets Of Gold and No One Can Wear My Robe But Me. Organist was Jerry Lewis. Casketbearers were Melvin Moss, Bradley Dunn, Russell Todd, Herbert Henderson, Leroy Morris, and Todd Morris. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Monett under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. |
