Text | Martha Caroline Higgs was born January 21, 1870, and died near Peirce [Pierce] City, Mo., Friday morning, April 16, 1915, age 55 years, 2 months and 24 days. She was married to D. A. Box in 1881 and to this union was born six children four of who survive to mourn with their father the loss of their mother. She was a kind mother and a devoted wife. In her death another home is deprived of a mother's care and love. She was patient during her sickness; she always had a pleasant smile and a kind word for all. To know her was to love her. She was well cared for during her sickness and everything was done that loving hands could do to restore her back to health but all to no avail. She moved to Peirce [Pierce] City from Exeter, Mo., January 20, 1915. She was converted at the age of 15 and joined the New Hope Baptist Church of near Exeter, since then she has lived a devoted Christian life. |
