Obit For Grace Lenore Higgs

Text Grace L Higgs, 14, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jess (Mary Tucker) Higgs of near Wheaton passed away at the Barry County Hospital following an attack of appendicitis which caused a rupture and prevented an operation Saturday, March 6.

Grace Higgs was a young girl of most pleasing personality and her passing will be a loss to the people of the community who learned to love and admire her for the youthful consideration and thought for others.

She was converted and united with the Solid Rock Baptist Church at the age of twelve years and lived a devoted Christian life and took an active part in religious work.

She was a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harve (Frances Baker) Higgs.

In addition to her parents she is survived by a sister, Helen Marie Higgs and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Lena Davidson) Tucker of near Exeter.

Funeral services were conducted by the Revs. Charles VanZandt and Abb Edie at the Solid Rock Baptist Church with burial in the Maplewood Cemetery at Exeter by the Koon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: George Tucker, Carl Davidson, Eugene Jones, Gene Barrett, J. O. Kimbrough, and Junior Higgs. Flower girls were: Emma Tucker, Betty Lou Tucker, Pauline Smallwoood, Jane Post, Ima Jean George, Elma Lou Antle, Peggy Roller, Mary Overton, Marie Parkinson, Betty Brattin, Ruby Brattin and Dorothy Reed.
