Text | Georgia Edna Brattin, daughter of Oliver and Belle Brattin, was born Oct. 28, 1883, and departed this life Sept. 29, 1944, at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 1 day. She was united in marriage to Epp Higgs August 22, 1900. Her husband preceded her in death July 22, 1920. To this union four children were born, two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Fred Lauderdale and Chester Higgs of Purdy route, Mrs. Ruby Marshall of Wheaton and Oran (Research Note: Spelled Oren) Higgs of Savannah, Georgia. In addition to the four children she leaves to mourn her passing, five grandchildren, two brothers Charles Otis and Walter Brattin of Wheaton besides a host of other relatives and friends. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and then later moved her membership to the Wheaton Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at the Wheaton Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Charles Vanzandt of Exeter, assisted by Rev. W. J. Bain. Burial was in the Concord cemetery under the direction of Pogue Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Aubry Howerton, Jimmy Higgs, Oral Burger, Earl Antle, Joe McNeill, and Mr. Goodwim. Flower Girls were Mrs. Ercia Kimbrough, Mrs. Lou Davis, Mrs. Ernest Knifkee, Mrs. B. M. Lamberson, Mrs. Earl Antle, Mrs. Neva Miller, Mrs. O. L. Burger, Mrs. Aubrey Howerton and Mrs. Joe McNeill.
