Obit For Mrs. Chester Higgs - Dora Ellen Marzelle Keeling

Text Mrs. Chester Higgs, took with indigestion Monday morning, December 3, and died at the home of her uncle, W. A. Sapp, in Exeter, Wednesday December 5.

was born at Butterfield, Mo., September 16, 1907. Age 21 years, 2 months and 16 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam W. Keeling of this county.

She was married to Chester Higgs December 31, 1927. She is survived by her husband, father, mother, one brother, Eugene Keeling, and two sisters, Loraine Keeling and Mrs. Goldie May, also a large number of relatives and friends.

She was converted at the Calvary Baptist Church, three years ago. A large congregation of neighbors and friends gathered at the Exeter Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 13, to pay the last tribute of respect to her memory. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Chas. Vanzandt. The beautiful floral offerings were carried by Mrs. O. L. Burger, Mrs. Olen Kimbrough, Misses Willodean Taylor, Geneva Talbert, Junita Johnson and Beth Florey. The pallbearers were: Oral Burger, Rob May, Freddie Lauderdale, Vernie Davidson, Earl Antle and Floyd Gailey.

The body was laid to rest in the Maplewood Cemetery at Exeter.

Research Note: Looks like Mrs. Chester Higgs was born 21 years old, but that is exactly the way it is printed in the Journal.
