Text WASHBURN, Mo., June 3. - We are in sorrow to chronicle the death of our old friend and neighbor, T.H. Hickey, who died suddenly at his home, 1 1/2 miles northwest of town, Monday, the 3rd, at 12:30 o’clock. He hadn’t been feeling very well for some time but had been up doing his work about as usual, and on the day he passed away he ate dinner and started to walk across the house and fell unconscious. It was first thought the had only fainted but Dr. Newman was immediately called and was soon ascertained that he had passed away.

He was born in Tennessee and would have been 72 years of age the 20th of this month. He had lived in this community since a small boy. He was one of the many of this county’s leading men who attended the late Prof. N.L. Maiden’s school and often spoke in highest terms of the professor.

He followed teaching for a number of years in this county and filled the office of assessor and road supervisor several terms. He was a Mason and was secretary of that order for many years.

He was one of the 63 that was converted, joined the Baptist church, and was baptized by the Rev. J.T. Brattin at a meeting he held here in 1922.

He was one of our best citizens and leaves a wife, six boys and two girls who are: Mrs. Cleo Edens and Snow Hickey of this place, Sevier of Byron, Okla., Chandler of Idaho, Mrs. Anna Northcutt of Drumright, Okla. Dewey Hickey of Tex. Ed of Tex., and Ray of Kansas.

Uncle Tom will be sadly missed by his many relatives and friends. We all extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved in their sad hour.
