Text | Morris L. Henderson, 77, of Springfield, formerly of Crane, died August 31 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. Mr. Henderson was born December 8, 1922, in Purdy, the son of Erual and Lola (Prier) Henderson. He was owner and operator of the Crane IGA Store for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He served on the Crane Broiler Festival Committee for 49 years, was a volunteer fireman, and a volunteer ambulance driver. He had served on the Crane City Utilities Board and on the Harrison Baking Company Board in Harrison, Arkansas. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite and was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple. He married Pauline Williams on March 15, 1945. Additional survivors include two uncles, both of Purdy; one aunt, Heston, Kansas; and several cousins. Services were 10 a.m. today, September 5, at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel in Springfield with Rev. William Moore officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home of Springfield. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis. |
