Text | Merilyn Jewell Hemphill, 79, Monett, Mo., passed away Friday, September 8, 2006, at Cox-Monett Hospital. She was born February 16, 1927, in Purdy, Mo.
to Ralph and Mary Jewell (Hankins) Bennett. She and Robert "Bob" Hemphill
were united in marriage on January 26, 1947, in Purdy, Mo. He preceded her
in death December 13, 1988. She and her husband, Bob, owned and operated the Otasco store in Monett for nearly 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monett, where she taught children's Sunday school and was a member of the Bethany Sunday school class. She is survived by four sons; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters; two brothers. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin, Glendell and Gary Bennett. Funeral service will be at 10 a m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the First Baptist Church, Monett, with Rev. Bill Cox officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Lacoba Nursing Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. |
