Text | Joe H. Hemphill, 85, of Neosho, formerly of Monett, died at 6:25 p.m. July 5 at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Joplin. Mr. Hemphill was born August 16, 1920, in Purdy, the son of Floyd and Chlora (Burg) Hemphill. He was a farmer, quarter horse rancher, and was retired as a machinist for Rocketdyne in Neosho. He was a Baptist. He married Eva Nell Stewart on July 25, 1943, in Columbus, Kansas, and she preceded him in death August 17, 1995. Survivors include two sons, one brother, two sisters, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Hembree; three brothers, Bill, Bob, and Ted Hemphill; and one sister, Betty Hemphill. Services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow, July 8, at Buchanan Chapel in Monett with Rev. Burt Ward officiating. Burial will be in Arnhart Cemetery near Purdy under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time tomorrow at the funeral home. |
