Hays, 73, of Eagle Rock, died at 8:15 a.m. August 19 at the VA Hospital in
Fayetteville, Arkansas, following a brief illness. Mr. Hays was born July 29, 1926, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Delmar and Dora Shahan Hays. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, a retired commercial construction superintendent, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Shell Knob. He was a member of Central Crossing 674 AF&AM Masonic Lodge in Shell Knob and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He belonged to Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in Springfield and the Oraka Shrine Temple in Crown Point, Indiana. He was a member of the Shell Knob Shrine Club and the Hi-Twelve Club. He married Phyllis Beach on March 7, 1947, in Westfield, Illinois. Additional survivors include five sons, three sisters, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Hays in 1997; and one grandson, Jason Hays in 1998. Memorial services were 11 a.m. August 21 at Roaring River Baptist Church in Eagle Rock with Rev. Paul Yarnall officiating under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Masonic services were conducted by members of the Central Crossing 674 AF&AM Masonic Lodge of Shell Knob. |
