| Text | Mrs. Anna Hayes, 93, passed away Sept. 22, 2003. Mrs. Hayes was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Eagle Rock, MO., to Charles K. and Nora Tucker. Anna was one of 14 children. She married Joseph Hayes in Arkansas in 1929, they moved their family to California in 1937 and after a brief return to Arkansas during World War II, they came back to California to stay. Anna lived in the Simi Valley from 1943 onward. Anna was a hard worker, a homemaker and at times worked side by side with her husband in the farming industry. Anna was a very creative person. She grew and dried flowers, from which she made beautiful arrangements. She was also remarkable at growing African violets, which filled her home. She was not one to join a lot of groups but she enjoyed being around people. She volunteered for several years in the gift shop at the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum. She belonged to the United Methodist Church in Simi Valley. Anna loved her family dearly especially all the young ones as they came along. She was always present in the lives of her grandchildren and even helped to raise several of them. Anna is survived by her children, two daughters and one son, and 3 brothers, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren all of whom will miss her very much. Her husband, Joe, who worked for many years for Taylor Ranch Co. (the area now known as Wood Ranch) preceded her in death in 1966. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary, 2636 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley. A graveside service will follow at 10 a.m. at Simi Valley Cemetery, 1461 Thompson Lane, Simi Valley. The Rev. Dr. Lewis Fry will officiate the services. Memorial donations can be made in Anna’s name to the Simi Valley Historical Society, P. O.Box 940461 Simi Valley, CA 93094-0461.
