| Text | Max Willard Hayden, 81, of Independence, formerly of Wheaton, passed away Jan. 10, 2013.
He was born in Wheaton Jan. 23, 1931, the son of Louis and Melva (Malone) Hayden. He was united in marriage to Freda Birkes on May 2, 1954. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1989. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He grew up and received his education in Wheaton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, he and Freda moved to Independence, where they resided for the rest of their lives. He worked for Armco Steel and retired in 1988. He was a member of Wheaton United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Reverend Derek Harmon will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter. |
