Headline | DEATH REMOVES AGED CITIZEN OF ROCKY COMFORT |
Text | Death claimed one of Rocky Comfort's oldest and best citizens last Thursday morning, Dec. 27, 1923, when Uncle Abe Hawkins died at his home at that
place. Mr. Hawkins was born in Virginia, Dec. 1, 1835 and was 88 years and 27 days old at the time of his death. A greater part of his life had been spent as a minister of the Methodist church and he was also a veteran of the Civil War. Mr. Hawkins moved to this section about eight years ago and during that time has made a host of friends who will mourn his death. He is survived by a wife and six sons. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery at Joplin Friday afternoon. |
