Text | A funeral service for Martha Hamilton, vice president of the board of advisers of the Missouri School for the Blind, will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Southwest Baptist Church, 6401 Scanlan Avenue. Burial will be in Purdy, Mo. Mrs. Hamilton died of cancer Tuesday at her home in St. Louis. She was 54. She was a former member of the executive board of the Missouri Baptist Convention, a former member of the executive committee of the St. Louis Metropolitan Baptist Association and a former teacher of English to Vietnamese immigrants. Mrs. Hamilton did missionary work in Panama, Argentina and Korea. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Hamilton; her mother, Ruth Eden of Monett, Mo.; a daughter of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons of New Florence, Mo. and St. Louis; three brothers of Chillicothe, Mo., Austin, Texas, and San Antonio, Texas; and a sister of Purdy.
