Text | Bill J. Gunnels, 84, of Cassville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Red Rose Health and Rehab in Cassville. He was born on Feb. 20, 1929, in Seligman, son of James Monroe and Cleo Mae (Murry) Gunnels.
He grew up in Seligman and was a graduate of Seligman High School, Class of 1946 with the distinction of having perfect attendance from the first grade through the 12th grade. He hauled milk from the time he was 16 years old and started his own milk route in 1951, and later his son joined him; they hauled milk for Pet, Kraft, Mid-Am and later Dairy Farmers of America. He was a member of several bowling teams at Cassville Bowl. He also served two terms on the Cassville City Council. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville. He married Norma Jean Edie on Jan. 21, 1950, and she survives. Additional survivors include: one son, Joe Gunnels and his wife, Sue, of Cassville; one daughter, Linda Cline and her husband, Steve, of West Plains; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gwen, Hilburn, of Seligman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lorina Gunnels. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the White Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville, with Pastor James Weaver officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church entrusted to the White Funeral Home & Crematory, Cassville. |
