Text | Maxine Jewell Griffith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. and Ada P. Griffith, was born at Exeter, Mo., March 26, 1923 and passed away Nov. 27, 1939 at the age of 16, and 8 months and one day. Her entire life had been spent in Exeter where she attended school and was a member of the 11th grade of the Exeter High School at the time of her death. She was converted in a meeting held at the Exeter Baptist Church when she was ten years old. Later she united with the Christian Church at Exeter. Maxine was of a very sweet and loving disposition, and was loved by all who knew her. She bore her sickness with patience and expressed her readiness and willingness to go. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Griffith of Exeter; two brothers, James and Roy at home, one sister, Mrs. Lou Edmondson, of Wheaton, two grandmothers, Mrs. Lou Griffith of Cassville, Mrs. Nettie Brattin of Kansas City, two uncles, Albert and Charlie Brattin, one Aunt, Mrs. Nora Kelaiger of Kansas City and many other relatives and a large circle of sympathizing friends. Funeral services were held at the Exeter Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 28, 1939 by Chas Vanzandt. Music was furnished by the music department of the high school, directed by the music teacher, Miss Elsie Clark. Burial was in the Maplewood Cemetery at Exeter, under the direction of the Koon Funeral Service of Cassville. Research Note: Death Certificate states she died of Chorea, Paresis, Pericarditis. |
