Text | Leon Green, 88, of Monett, died at 1:10 p.m. yesterday, October 19, at Cox Monett Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Green was born April 18, 1915, in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Bert and Rebecca Fields Green. He was retired from the Electric Department for the City of Monett. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and attended Chapel of Grace Church near Monett. He married Lucille Rice on October 11, 1934, and she preceded him in death February 10, 1991. Survivors include two sons, one daughter, one sister, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James Green. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. Jim Copley officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church. |
