| Text | On Wednesday morning August 23, just a new day was beginning, an honored mother passed to her new home. The morning of a new life and started for Chloe Goostree and she reached the top of the hill of life, reaching to her Heavenly home. Effie Chloe Higgs, daughter of Mrs. And Mrs. J. M. Higgs, was born January 7, 1893; departed this life August 23, 1944, at the age of 51 years, 7 months, 16 days. March 4, 1914 she was married to Emmett Goostree. To them were born two daughters, Lois of Wilmington, California, and Mrs. Raymond Montgomery, Exeter. Beside her husband and daughters who survived are her father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Higgs, two sisters, Mrs. Ed Zuspann of Goodland, Kansas, and Mrs. Britt Lowe of Verona; two brothers, Forest Higgs of Fowler, Colo, and Ray Higgs of Cassville; one grand-daughter, Sherry Von Montgomery, and many other relatives. She was converted at an early age and united with the New Hope Baptist church, of which she as member at the time of her death. Chloe will be greatly missed in the home and community, yet while there is an ache in our hearts over the loss and separation, she has gained the victory for she died in faith and eternal home is gained. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Exeter Baptist church conducted by Rev. A. M. Edie, assisted by Mrs. Minnie Campbell and Rev. Norman McNabb, with the Koon Funeral Home in charge. Burial was made in the Exeter cemetery. – Contributed.
